Dan Klein 1938 - 2009
Dear Family, Friends and Work Colleagues of Dan Klein,
As you are all by now aware, sadly, my friend, colleague and partner Dan died unexpectedly at the end of June and I needed some time to consider what might be the best possible way that we might all remember him in a more permanent, constructive way.
Further to consulting with my fellow Directors at North Lands Creative Glass, a summer school that Dan and I, along with various other people, helped establish and set up back in 1995, it soon became apparent and logical that some type of memorial should be established through people and organisations donating funds in Dan's memory so that North Lands could flourish and expand into the future. Something that both I and the Directors think would be a fitting tribute to a great man that helped, assisted and advised so many people.
Below is an appeal to create a lasting memory to Dan at North Lands, a place he loved dearly and to which he gave so much time and energy, right up until the end (also being the stand in, temporary Artistic Director for this summers programme). I hope that each of you will feel able to contribute to this worthy cause in memory of the fantastic work he has done for Artists, Students, Societies, and people in general, over so many years. By all means please do pass this information on to other people that might have know Dan, if you think appropriate.
